That a mid-life crisis is depression may be accurate. But I wonder this depression is brought on by loss of purpose. Goals have been accomplished and found to be unfulfilling. Or goals have proven to be unattainable. Or the times have changed and your view of your place in them has not kept pace.

I believe it all goes back to the day when one wakes up and asks, "Who am I?"
