LIFE IN THE LOW PEAKS

A great sadness

Paul, on the far left, and the others got a good chuckle when I fell into the mud. From the author’s collection.

Sunday, November 13th was the first snowy day of the year. As the flakes began falling, Daryl banged on the door. He came in and gave us the bad news.

Earlier that day, while speaking on the phone with Daryl, Paul suffered a heart attack and died. Suddenly, unexpectedly, abruptly.

We all struggle to make sense of this, but there is none to be made. Instead, we must each deal with Paul’s passing in our own way.

Along with many other things, I will miss his helpfulness, sharing tales, keeping up on the latest wildlife of note, and eating the fine meals he prepared.

And I wish I could have shared this photo with him, which was taken the next day quite close to his house.

Enjoy every day.

I Write. Hopefully, you smile. Or maybe think a new thought. Striving to present words and pictures you can't ignore. Sometimes in complete sentences.
