I tutored for 30 years in the local city school district. (Underprivileged. Does anyone use that word anymore? ) Often, the kids would say, "You know the answer. Why won't you give it to me?" There was no understanding of why they were in school.

When I was in college, we had a physics class late Friday afternoon. We'd go to a local dive bar, drink beer, shoot pool, and interrogate each other on the upcoming physics questions at the same time. The professor knew what was going on and grilled each one of us in turn as the class started. We nailed the answers and he just shook his head.
