Farewell To Winter

--

Though most say, “Good riddance!” a few bid fond farewell.

Is it that the cold makes one better appreciate warmth? That wearing wool sweaters and sitting next to the fire just doesn’t happen in the warm months? That to fully appreciate water, one must behold it in all its forms?

Crystal beauty alone justifies the temperature.

The key to enjoying the season is getting out into it. Breathe the crisp air and move about the previously hum-drum landscape made spectacular by snow and ice. Be enthralled by the types of beauty not possible above the freezing mark. Explore places hostile to humans when the need for clothing is minimal.

One if by land …
Big shoes make lovely places accessible.
Way down there the water flows.
Lower and closer. Do geese enjoy scenic beauty?
Skiing is easy on the flat near the stream. Don’t get too close.
If you keep up with these three, you’ll always be in shape.
A slow motion waterfall.
Pipes for the ice-organ at the rock cathedral.
Little pipes
And bigger pipes
But eventually, all gets washed away.
But not before a late snowy dusting.

Old Man Winter bids adieu with a May Day reminder that he’ll be back.

Have a great summer!
