Have you read How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, by Jason Stanley? The book supports many of the points you make, and fills in some gaps.

It is the best bit of reading I've found to explain how fascists think and rise to power. And it is scary in that it shows how far down the path the USA is, currently.
