Disregarding that, a quick story about Steve Goodman at a performance long ago. He was the "warm-up band" for Earl Scruggs and Sons (What clueless promoter puts these tours together?). At the end of one song, Goodman did a lightning-fast run down the neck of his guitar. As the last note faded, he looked out over the crowd with a smile and an twinkle in his eye and said, "I guess I've got a lot of damn nerve doing that before Scruggs comes out."

What a privilege to have seen Mr. Goodman perform. (Stated with no disrespect to Mr. Scruggs, who was also quite impressive.)
